Accident insurance business was transacted by seven Accident companies, viz., 3 Canadian, 3 British and 1 American, and guarantee business by two companies, one Canadian and one. British. Two companies only made returns, according to which the premiums received during the year were $15,252, the amount in force was $94,691, and the losses incurred $3,099. Two firms in Montreal transact this class of business, but work on the system of replacement, instead of paying the value of the glass broken, and their returns do not show the amount in force. insurance 695.
