ANNUAL REPORT

OF THE

BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

THE Directors in presenting their annual report, take pleasure in giving expression to the continued prosperity of our society during the year. In no year of its existence has its prosperity been more gratifying. The reports of the several departments will show the advance of the society in securing the objects of its organization.

The rapid growth of our library has attracted the attention of those visiting our rooms, and the prospect is, we shall soon need additional room for its accommodation. Could the large collection of valuable pamphlets and periodicals be bound, and thereby become more ready of access, it would greatly add to the value and usefulness of the library. Such a result, we trust, will be experienced at no distant day. The want of funds is the only cause of delay in this desired work, and we feel confident the friends of the society will furnish them when they understand the great good they will accomplish.

We would, as heretofore, remind the society of the importance of increasing the list of life members, which we are confident might be done to an extent that would furnish the funds to meet the necessary expenses of the society.

Seventeen of our members have finished their course during the year, and passed to their reward above. They were beloved and honored brethren. Their memory will be cherished with sincere affection. They felt a deep interest in the society- the presence of many of them will be missed in our gatherings.

We deeply regret that our highly honored President, in consequence of illness, cannot be with us in our annual gathering, but hope and pray that his useful life may be spared to the society, who has been one of its most interested and liberal patrons.

We would gratefully acknowledge the generous liberality of our friends who have so nobly assisted in the payment of rent of rooms, and in meeting other expenses of the society.
