TO THE SIXTH EDITION.

THE chief alterations in this edition are due to what was decided, perhaps still more to what was suggested, in the House of Lords in the leading case of Allen v. Flood, shortly after the publication of the last edition.

Cases reported down to March, 1901, have been noted.

I am indebted to my learned friend, Mr. W. D. Dobell, of Lincoln's Inn, for the thorough revision and rearrangement of the Index.

April, 1901.
