ARTICLE 2.—Amendments of Detail and Special Remarks.

To the line of demarcation described in the Agreement of the 19th October, 1906, modifications of the following details submitted for the approval of the two Governments have been applied:

1. Between Beacons 13 to 20, for the straight line of the Protocol as discussed in the correspondence exchanged between the two Governments the Commissioners have submitted, owing to the impossibility of locating exactly the end of the Itu ravine and in order to clear the British road Ilashe-Idi Iroko, the following broken line:

From the point where the direct path Igolo-Ilashe crosses the Itu (Itou) ravine, draw a parallel to the Idi Iroko-Ilashe road in a north-easterly direction. From the point where the Ilashe-Ifoyin (Ifanhim) path cuts the Igirawun (Iguiraoun) draw a parallel to the Ilashe-Idi Iroko road in a south-westerly direction.

The Beacons 13 to 20 mark out these two pieces of straight line which intersect at Beacon 15.

2. The frontier line parallel to the Ilashe-Ikotun (Ikotoun) path being almost confounded with the Igirawun (Iguiraoun) River, in order to facilitate beaconing, the actual course of the Igirawun (Iguiraoun) has been selected as the frontier, from the point where this river is crossed by the Ilashe-Ifoyin (Ifanhim) path to its source to the gain of the French territory.

3. It has not been possible to discover the exact situation of the village in the Protocol, Ikotun (Ikotoun), as the old maps show it north-east of Idagbon (Ilagbo). With the object of not placing the British village of Ajilinde in a dead-angle and to assure their communications to the east, this angle of the French frontier to the north-east has been cut off to the gain of British territory.

In compensation, the frontier line has been drawn slightly to
