have the thrums left on each end; by this method he found that the goods did not vary more than a yard. There were twenty cuts on some of the beams, of 800 yards; and the web is all wound up on the loom. No difficulty resulted from the adoption of this plan, and he liked the arrangement very much.

The PRESIDENT said that he thought the plan described by Mr. Cumnock had some disadvantages; and one is that of having a large amount of cloth in the mill after it is woven; another is that the bad places in the cloth are woven down out of the way. There are advantages, however, which have led some manufacturers to get looms that would weave a whole warp.

Mr. HUSSEY thought the plan suggested by Mr. Cumnock was a serious obstacle in the way of getting off a large amount of cloth; and where a girl had a bad place in the cloth that was marked, she would weave it down out of the way, especially if she was going to leave any time within two or three weeks.

Mr. CUMNOCK replied that the damaged cloth was only four per cent. The incentive to the weaver, when the hand weaves by the cut, is that she gets her pay for it at the end of the month.

No more remarks being offered on the Marking of Webs at the Dresser, a motion was made to adjourn.

The PRESIDENT Congratulated the Association on the success which had attended their meetings. They had now one hundred and sixteen members-quite as large a number as the most sanguine believer had expected. If the members would take pains to come often, and interchange opinions on the various subjects which came up for consideration before the Association, great benefit would be derived. The matter of providing a more suitable hall had been under consideration by the Board of Government, and before the next meeting of the Association it was thought a more convenient room would be

obtained.

Voted, To adjourn sine die.
