Excellency, Referring to your note of October Ist, and Mr. Hay's reply of December 2d, 1904, in regard to the report by Messrs. O. H. Tittmann and W. F. King, the Commissioners appointed to carry out the delimitation of the Alaska boundary so far as it was left undefined by the Award of the London Tribunal, and concerning the character of our agreement between the United States and Great Britain for the formal acceptance of the recommendations of the Commissions by an exchange of notes, I have the honor to state, by direction of the

Excellence. Conformément à votre note du 1er octobre et à la réponse de M. Hay, du 2 décembre 1904, au sujet du rapport de MM. O. H. Tittmann et W. King, commissaires désignés pour délimiter les frontières de l'Alaska dans toutes les parties qui ont été laissées sans détermination par la sentence arbitrale du Tribunal de Londres et relativement au caractère de notre accord entre les Etats-Unis et la GrandeBretagne pour l'acceptation formelle des propositions des commissaires par un échange de notes, j'ai l'honneur d'exposer, par ordre du Prési

President, that the Government of the United States agrees with the Government of His Britannic Majesty that the part of the boundary between Alaska and Canada lying between the points P and T mentioned in the award of the Tribunal of 1903, shall be defined, in accordance with the general principles laid down by said Tribunal, by the summits whose geographical coordinates are given with sufficient approximation for identification in the attached Table, provided that the Commissioners are hereby empowered, after they have secured sufficient data, to select additional and intermediate peaks between the points 7 and 8 and 8 and T where the distances between the peaks given in the Table exceed the probable limit of intervisibility. Provided also that no such additional and intermediate peak shall be more than 2,500 meters from the straight line joining peaks 7 and 8 or 8 and T of the attached Table, as follows:

The latitudes and longitudes are taken from, and refer to, the Maps numbers 10 and 12 of the surveys made by the British Commission under the Convention of 1892. The successive peaks are designated. by consecutive numbers, counting southward from Point P.

dent, que le gouvernement des États-Unis convient avec le gouvernement de Sa Majesté britannique que la partie de la frontière entre 'Alaska et le Canada, située entre les points P et T mentionnés dans la sentence arbitrale du Tribunal de 1903, sera délimitée conformément aux principes généraux posés par ledit Tribunal, par les sommets dont les coordonnées géographiques sont données avec une approximation suffisante pour les identifier sur le tableau ci-joint, étant stipulé que les commissaires ont, par ces présentes, pleins pouvoirs, après avoir assuré des bases suffisantes, pour choisir les pics additionnels et intermédiaires entre les points 7 et 8, et 8 et T, où les distances entre les pics donnés dans le tableau dépassent la limite probable d'où ils peuvent être aperçus les uns des autres. Il a été stipulé aussi qu'aucun de ces pics additionnels et intermédiaires ne sera à plus de 2,500 mètres de la ligne droite joignant les pics 7 et 8 ou 8 et T du tableau annexé comme il suit :

Les latitudes et longitudes sont prises d'après les cartes nos 10 et 12, des plans exécutés par la commission anglaise, en vertu de la Convention de 1892. Les pics successifs sont désignés par la suite des nombres en comptant vers le sud, à partir du point P.

Your acknowledgment of this communication, with a similar statement on behalf of the Government of His Majesty will complete the agreed Exchange of Notes and will confirm and give validity to the agreement reached by the Commissioners, thus completing the award. of the London Tribunal under the Convention of January 24, 1903 as to the above-described part of the Alaska boundary.

Votre accusé de réception, avec un exposé semblable en faveur du gouvernement de Sa Majesté, complètera l'échange de notes convenu; il confirmera et validera l'accord passé par les commissaires, complétant ainsi la sentence arbitrale du tribunal de Londres, en vertu de la convention du 24 janvier 1903, relative à la partie sus-décrite de la frontière de l'Alaska.
