There is also given a summary of these figures wherein the aggregate and average investments, times of productivity and profits and losses are shown separately for Missouri and Oklahoma and the entire district. In conclusion, the committee wishes to draw attention to the fact that the results shown antedate the recent advances in all mining costs; because of these advances the capital investment now required to develop and equip a mine is vastly greater than the average investment here shown. At the present time, April, 1918, the zinc ore market is very depressed and about two-thirds of all the mills in the district are shut down because they can not be operated at a profit.
