The Assets and Liabilities of the Republic are given in the annexed tabular statement. As compared with the corresponding figures for the previous year, the Assets had decreased at the close of 1902 by $176,047, whilst as regards the Currency and Gold Liabilities, the former had increased by $3,561,015 and the latter decreased by $133,055. BUDGET FOR 1902-3. The following are the details of the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for the financial year com. mencing 1st July, 1902, and ending 30th June, 1903 : The only information available concerning the Budget for the financial year 1903-4 is a Decree promulgated on the 2nd May last, by which the estimated Expenditure is fixed at $15,646,044. TRADE STATISTICS. The Report of the Director-General of Customs contains no information relating to Imports except that the trade had been adversely affected by the very high rates of exchange prevailing.
