The United States to pay, as full compensation, the sum of $50 per day for each day the said schooner may be employed in said service. Purchase of a schooner: Elijah Taylor, attorney for George Allen and James Hooper, sells to the United States the schooner Efaula, to- gether with all her sails, rigging, boats, apparel, &c. Purchase of a steamer: Purchase of the steamer Colonel Yell, with all her appurtenances, machinery, &c., the sum of $18,000. Purchase of a steamer: Purchase of the steamship New Orleans, with all her appurtenances, machinery, &c., the sum of $125,000. Transportation of troops: To transport on the steamboat Ohio Belle, from Newport, Ky., to New Orleans, a detachment of United States troops, consisting of 6 commissioned officers and 400 non-commis- sioned officers, soldiers, servants, &c., with their baggage and sub- sistence, and other stores, for the sum of $1,700. Transportation of volunteers: To transport on the steamer Ne Plus Ultra, from Cincinnati to New Orleans, a detachment of Michigan volunteers, consisting of 14 commissioned officers and 250 non-com- missioned officers, privates, &c., with their baggage, &c., for the sum of $1,400. Furnishing specie: To furnish to the quartermaster's, subsistence, and paymaster's department of the United States army, in the city of Mexico, all such funds as may be required by them for the public service against drafts drawn by the respective chiefs of the said de- partments, and payable in specie, at and over ten days' sight, either in New York, New Orleans, or Vera Cruz, and to pay cash, in hard dollars, the amounts of such drafts, together with two per cent. pre- mium. This contract can be annulled by either party giving one months' notice to that effect. Fitting up transport ships: To fit up such transport ships and other vessels as may be designated, for the transportation of horses, by putting up stalls, &c, under the supervision of Captain James For- syth, for the sum of $7 50 for each horse; for which accommodations shall be prepared as mentioned above.
