PROPOSALS

For the PHOENIX FIRE-OFFICE, Lombard-street and Charing Cross, for Insuring Houses, Farmers Stock, Goods and Merchandize, and Shipping, from loss or damage by fire.

INS

NSURANCE FROM LOSS OR DAMAGE BY fire hath been found a measure of great importance to the security of property, and to the happiness of families. This precaution is seldom neglected by merchants and tradesmen, and is equally necessary to gentlemen, farmers, and manufacturers of every kind. The Phoenix Office was established by a numerous proprietary in 1782, upon principles of public utility. The promptitude and cheerfulness with which the most important losses have been made good by theCompany(even in this Island are known; a large capital in government securities is at all times held in readiness for that purpose; and in addition to that indemnity which insurers are bound to supply, this Company has constantly attended to the convenience and accommodation of the public in the mode of transacting the business of the office.

N. B.No person insured by this Office is liable for the losses of others, as in contribution societies.

Losses by fire occasioned by lightning are made

The great encouragement this office has received since its establishment, is a proof that the public confide in the stability of its funds, and approve the plan on which it is founded; the Phoenix Fire-Office, has paid upwards of Three Millions Sterling, to sufferers by fire, and has by this means, not only contributed to support the different branches of commerce, but also prevented many respectable families from becoming a pray to misery.
