In communicating to your Excellency these determinations, founded on the views announced by the British Government itself, it remains for me still to fulfil the duty of reiterating, in the name of my August Master, the assurance that his Majesty knows how to appreciate the ties formed by the Protocol between the two Courts; that he regards the results to which they have already led as most fortunate; that he is firmly resolved to follow them up; and that he is intimately persuaded that he shall see the work of conciliation and of peace, undertaken under such favourable auspices, brought to a satisfactory issue.
