WE are much indebted to the Profession and the Press for the reception they have accorded to this Book. The Law since the appearance of the First Edition in 1872 has been considerably changed, especially with regard to Gas Supply, and we have acceded to the continued requests of our friends to prepare a New Edition. An extended experience of the wants of Companies and Local Authorities has necessitated considerable addition to, and amendments in, the text; and some parts have been entirely re-written. We hope that the pains we have taken to render this Edition complete, may retain for the work the position of a standard book of reference on all questions relating to the Law of Gas and Water Supply.
