It is a comprehensive single source of current and important reference material designed to provide the Members of the Committee on Foreign Relations and the Committee on Foreign Affairs, as well as all Members of Congress, with information on United States relations with the nations of the region.

The material contained herein was selected, compiled, and organized by Larry Storrs, Robert Sanchez, and Winston Woodland of the Congressional Research Service, Library of Congress, under the guidance of the professional staff of the Committee on Foreign Relations and the Committee on Foreign Affairs.

This document will prove to be as valuable as the previously published volumes, namely: U.S. Congress, House of Representatives, Committee on Foreign Affairs. The compilation is an update of Inter-American Relations: A Collection of Documents, Legislation, Descriptions of Inter-American Organizations, and Other Material Pertaining to Inter-American Affairs, prepared by the Foreign Affairs and National Defense Division and printed for the use of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in 1973. The updated compilation was prepared in the Foreign Affairs and National Defense Division, by K. Larry Storrs, Robert E. Sanchez, and C. Winston Woodland.
