SECTION 2.

APPROPRIATION-ASSURANCES.

By these Assurances "The Church of England" undertakes, in the event of the death of a Member who has received an advance from "The Mutual Society," to pay to the latter whatever Balance of the Appropriation may be still owing, though not yet due at the time of death; and thus the property deposited with "The Mutual Society" as security would be at once freed and delivered to the deceased Member's representatives.

The Assurances accordingly commence at whatever sum the Member may desire, and continue for twenty years, diminishing meanwhile at the rate of Five per cent. per annum, such being the term and rate of repayment of the Appropriations. If, for example, a Member

had received an advance of £100 from "The Mutual Society," and had effected one of these Appropriation-Assurances, "The Church of England" would, if he died in the first year, pay the full sum of £100 to "The Mutual Society;" if in the second, £95; if in the third, £90; and so on, until the twentieth year, at the expiration of which the Assurance would cease, there being no further need for it, as by that time the appropriation would have been entirely repaid.

The manner of effecting these Assurances is precisely the same as that explained in the case of Bonus-Assurances, except that the Member's own health is inquired into, and the Policy is effected in the name of "The Mutual Society."
