Bartlett was an excellent observer, good writer and illustrator and lousy leader. Conflicts with underlings are not described in great detail but played a significant role in delays and political problems. Bartlett provides an excellent read about a challenging project and time of rapid change in the Southwest. Worthwhile reading for any historian of the SW.
