mercies', judgments", light of nature", conviction of conscience*, publick or private admonition ", censures of the church", civil punishments; and our prayers, purposes, promises, vows, covenants, and engagements to God or men: if done deliberately f, wilfully, presumptuously, impudently, u Amos iv. 8. O Lord, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction; they promises, have made their faces harder than a rock, they have refused to return. w Rom. i. 26.
