An Act fupplemental to the Act" eftablishing the Sec. 1. B E it enacted by the Senate and Houfe of Reprefentatives of the United States of America in Congress affembled, That the eighth fection of the act, intituled, An act to establish the treafury-department,' certain mo- paffed the fecond day of September, one thoudifications and feven hundred and eighty-nine, fhall be, extended to Clerksunder and the fame is hereby extended to all and every of the clerks employed in the treasury department, as fully and effectually as if they and every of them were fpecially named therein, except as to the penalty in fuch fection mentioned, which in cafe of any fuch clerk offending against the provifions of the faid fection, fhall be five hundred dollars, and removal from office. other offi affirmation; Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That each Clerks and and every clerk and other officer already ap- cers to take pointed in any of the departments of the United an oath or States, (and who have not, fince their appointment, taken the oath or affirmation hereafter mentioned) fhall within fifteen days after the paffing of this act, and those who shall hereafter be appointed, fhall before they enter upon the duties of fuch appointment, take an oath or affirmation before one of the juftices of the fupreme court, or one of the judges of a diftrict court of the United States, to fupport the Conftitution of the United States, and alfo an oath or affirmation, well and faithfully to execute the truft committed to him, which oaths or affirmations, fubfcribed by fuch clerk, to be filed and certified by the perfon adminiftering the inthe office fame, fhall be filed in the office of the perfon ployed. employing fuch clerk. where em tion the 500 Sec. 3.
