informed (1) that Government of Mexico declines to appear in

Government of Mexico and therefore not subject to seizure.

Tangier to the French Resident General in Morocco
Protest against application of a Vizirial Decree dated July
6, 1929, which would prohibit, as from January 23, 1930, the
importation or sale of imported canned foods into the French
Zone unless name of country of origin is stamped on the metal
containers. Reminder also that such measures cannot legally
be enforced on American nationals until assent of U. S.
Government is secured.
