He went abroad in the interests of the American Committee for Devastated France and had unusual opportunities to view conditions in the devastated regions, as well as to visit under guidance the American and French fronts. He served for a period with the American Red Cross, and delivered many addresses to the American soldier boys, with whom he came into intimate contact.
